Jimmies Restaurant, Crafers SA

2015 Winner Best Pizza Restaurant, nestled on the Main St, Crafers, just off the freeway in the Hills. This warm and welcoming restaurant, had us seated in comfortable table and chairs, relaxed and viewing the menu with out any hurry. Four of us chose to share two large pizza's. The first pizza a Turkish lamb, split with Morrocan chicken, the second pizza Seafood, which arrived topped with oysters in the shell, loaded with prawns, an absolute stand out. These pizza's would have to be the tastiest, most delightful, thin crusted, perfectly prepared, we have tasted for some time. Can well understand this restaurant being awarded winner 2013 & 2015 for pizza's. We appreciated the BYO option, there is a corkage fee, but that is quite understandable. Outside the restaurant is a large private alfresco area, which in summer will be popular. Well worth the visit, will return.

Rumours Espresso, Wohlers Homeware MtBarker

Rumours Espresso is situated in the rear corner of Wohlers large Homeware emporium railway end of Gawler St. The Cafe replicates their large Homeware store in the Barossa township of Tanunda. Here they  have a busy popular Cafe, which cater for their customers and town shoppers.

Rumours Espresso MtBarker is modern, spacious, with dark wooden tables and matching comfortable chairs. Around the walls are large wooden painted art, depicting a bygone era of, fast cars, passenger airliners & ships. From the display cabinet at the counter I chose a very nice generous size ham, cheese, tomato toasted sandwich, with a mug of Rio latte, all very satisfying. The service was excellent and friendly. As this is a new cafe, I found it very relaxing, not crowded out by customers, but this place I am sure will like their counterpart in Tanunda get busy. Good call.

Norwood Parade Cycles Norwood SA

How refreshing to find a cycle shop, where the guy behind the counter (not the boss)  knows what he is talking about. I had a problem with my mountain bike that i was unable to sort out. While on the Norwood Parade just happened to walk past the shop, so on impulse decided to call in and make an enquiry. Purchased the necessary part required, walked away very satisfied. Good bike shop worth keeping this place on file.

Repatriation General Hospital Daw Park Adelaide SA

The Repatriation General Hospital Daw Park Adelaide, is an older style hospital with buildings added on, remodelled over the years.  Which makes the place a little difficult to find your way around. I have had to attend their Out Patient Department over the past two years and have found the staff most helpful, attentive, and very professional. The Medical staff are highly specialised, giving me great confidence in the treatment I have received. Over the past few years, you read in the local paper "this hospital to be closed down". When you look at the ageing statistics of our population, the number of people on huge long term waiting lists, it would seem common sense not to close this hospital down. I spoke to a number of patients today, and they all expressed my sentiments. Why close a very well used popular functioning hospital down? Unfortunately Common Sense has passed away.

Gloria Jean's Cafe Glenelg S A

Gloria Jean's Cafe is well set out and spacious, with brown wooden table and chairs, coffee coloured walls, with a very large painted mural along the side wall, with comfortable bench seating below the mural. We found the range of food options fresh and tasty, with  a good Gloria Jeans coffee. The service was excellent and professional. Cafe Assiette Hahndorf S.A

What do you do on a cold winters day, when in the old historical Town of Hahndorf, South Australia? For us it was to settle in beside a nice open log fire and enjoy the local Fare, at Cafe Assiette. We chose Oxtail soup, chocker full of meat and vegetables, accompanied by warm garlic bread, a very satisfying meal in its self. The award winning Mahalia's coffee was delightful as always. A Great choice on a cold winters day in the Adelaide Hills.

Crafers Hotel. Crafers SA

Crafers historical hotel, circa 1880. Now renovated and restored.

The Hotel has been thoughtfully decorated, retaining the best features of natural stone and brick walls oak floor, ceiling beams and roses, with three large open fireplaces two with Victorian style surrounds complete with original mantles. A huge black & white photograph of the hotel, as it was in bygone times with horses and carriages outside, can be seen from the bar and two dining areas. Many framed photo's on the walls, recall people and scenes from the early days. Altogether cosy, charming and full of ambience. We ordered for lunch from a good varied menu, two soups, cauliflower and tomato, both soups were served in bowls with fresh warm rolls. The tomato soup would have to be up there with the best I have tasted. Thick, tasty and very easy on the palate, my wife enjoyed very much her choice cauliflower soup, it was also very well prepared, creamy and tasty. Sitting by the open fire, enjoying this well prepared lunch, experiencing excellent coffees makes for a very relaxing interlude. We shall return one evening for dinner.

Cafe Assiette Hahndorf S.A.

A Hahndorf Gem

Cafe Assiette in Hahndorf on a wet winters day, best place to be, three open fire places, cosy, comfortable and inviting. From an extensive menus, which includes a range of salads, seafoods, pies and burgers, plus a wide range of traditional German dishes, we chose for lunch,  a Vienna burger, handmade foot long Vienna sausage, fried egg, bacon, grilled onion, tomato, BBQ sauce, mustard, cheese and pickle sauce, plus a Smoked Salmon salad with onion, cucumber and dried tomato. Both meals were extremely generous in size, excellently prepared and presented, in the salad the salmon was generously layered  throughout, not just on top, what a treat!. The Burger looked sensational, with ample amounts of cheese, bacon, eggs, tomato, greens, mustard and pickle sauce, plus the foot long sausage. For dessert we enjoyed  home made Apple Strudel, light moist and delicious, all meals competitively priced. The coffee is award winning Mahalia's roast, from Robe, one of the best available. As always, a delightful interlude in Hahndorf.

The Creperie Cart. RundleMall Adelaide

The word crêpe is French for pancake and is derived from the Latin crispus meaning “curled”.  Crêpes originated inBrittany (fr. Breton), in the northwest region of France, which lies between the English Channel to the north and the Bay of Biscay to the south.  Crêpes were originally called galettes, meaning flat cakes. The French pronunciation of both words is with a short e, as in bed.
Crêpes are popular not only throughout France but elsewhere in Europe where the pancakes go by other names and adaptations, including Italian crespelle, Hungarian palacsintas, Jewish blintzes, Scandinavian plattars, Russian blini, and Greek kreps.

We are a mobile crêpe trailer and you can find us "Cheffin'Up" a variety of nine sweet crêpes and three savoury crepes, on Rundle Mall. Adelaide. Absolutely delightful and satisfying, will return.

Kofi & Kitchen City Cross Adelaide

Kopi & Kitchen, a new food experience in City Cross Adelaide

A kopitiam or kopi tiam is a traditional coffee shop found in Southeast Asia, patronised for meals and beverages. The word kopi is a Malay/Hokkien term for coffee and tiam is the Hokkien/Hakka term for shop (店). Menus typically feature simple offerings: a variety of foods based on egg, toast, and kaya, plus coffee, tea, and Milo, a malted chocolate drink which is extremely popular in Southeast Asia, particularly Malaysia and Singapore and in some parts of Indonesia, especially at Sumatra Island.
Kopi tiams in Singapore are commonly found in almost all residential areas as well as some industrial and business districts in the country, numbering about 2,000 in total.
When visiting we found the cafe design, modern, bright, with an excellent range of seating, good lighting, open plan modern kitchen, with a good range of food choices. The food was fresh and well prepared, the prices were competitive, the service was quick and friendly. The Kopi Kitchen is a welcome addition to the City Cross Food Court.

Needed to met a client for coffee in the busy Rundle Mall. Spotted "Cibo" with their distinguishable Red Style Chairs and tables along the pedestrian area on the Mall, knowing that the coffee is consistently good, decided this would be the place. Colin & Co Rundle Place Adelaide SA

The Logo reads "Modern & Healthy" We found this to be true. The food cabinets had a great variety of fresh delicious food options. The coffee did not disappoint, smooth and very well made, not at all leaving a bitter after taste. This Cafe is opposite the busy bus stop on Grenfell Street, at the Coles outlet. Inside it is well laid out, slate grey tile floor, with comfortable bench seats along one side, with good comfortable black chairs, and marble tables, smart and modern. The coffee machine is a winner, expensive but delivers. Great coffee snack break while near the bus

Lots of traffic in this store, but you can always enjoy a well made coffee while you wait, no charge, friendly staff. Coles & Woolworths could take note of this business, may improve their service.

This hotel is family friendly, with a purpose built large alfresco decked area, over looking the main st. Great morning coffee, breakfast choice.

The Haus Hahndorf SA

The Haus Bar & Kitchen is spacious, but because it is divided into very separate zones, is not cavernous. Very European in style, it has vaulted timber ceilings, large beams and huge linen light shades hung in groups, There is an assortment of table groupings throughout. Exposed brick walls are stencilled with murals depicting Hahndorf's historical German past. One space can be completely closed off for private functions, and outside  is a delightful alfresco area over looking Hahndorf's main street.
We ordered from the wide ranging menu, that included specialised German Dishes and delectable Pizzas, A premium Wagyu schnitzel lightly crumbed with sage and onion served with salad, beer battered chips & Dianne sauce. A prosciutto wrapped chicken breast, served with white wine and cream mushroom risotto, sundried tomato pesto & spring onions. Both dishes were of a generous size, prepared and presented to a very high standard and as expected, delicious. The local wine suggested, Sidewood Adelaide Hills Savignon Blanc, perfect. We skipped the dessert menu and opted for cakes from the large display cabinet, accompanied by coffee. The service was faultless, the atmosphere was buzzing, a very satisfying dining experience.

Coffee Club Adelaide Central Plaza

We have found over a lengthy period of time, there are definitely some good advantages, patronising the Coffee Club in Adelaide's Central City Mall as a regular. The food options keep changing, but the coffee is very consistent, the service is always good, even when crowded there is very little delay. First you can become a member of the VIP programme, which will save you hard earned money, they also have periodical offers that are well worth your free entry. This year they were offering to a lucky participant, who swipes their card $100 cash voucher, "YES" I ended up winning the $100 cash voucher. What with Free Wifi, morning papers, good coffee, a discount through the VIP Club, plus entering their promotions, make this a great coffee stop, when in the City.

We found the service excellent, with a well organised service team enabling you to be attended to with out a long wait. Due to the location in the centre of the shopping area, across from Coles, the cafe is very busy. But we could not fault the service or food options. The coffee was smooth warm, with a pleasant lingering after taste. Well worth the visit.

Hahndorf Inn S.A

Hahndorf Inn is situated midway on the Main Street of Hahndorf. The advert reads "This is the South Australia taste of Germany" The building is Barn style, large wooden beams, with an inviting main bar made from bolted slabs of timber. The setting is rustic, with a large alfresco area along the street frontage. Just walking past, with German live music playing, diners enjoying their meals, eating outside made me feel hungry. Decided on a German Experience lunch. After all Hahndorf is a German town, so a Herman lunch it is, I chose from the menu, Cheese Kransky, deluxe Vienna Bockwurst, with a German potato salad, Hahndorf pretzel and German mustard. Huge meal, very well prepared. The service was good, without an overdue delay. Finished off with a genuine German beer, which had me leaving very comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost of my meal $14.90 and available all day. This popular establishment is well worth checking out.

The Haus Restaurant Cafe Hahndorf S.A.

When in Hahndorf, we consistently make a stop at the Haus Bar and Kitchen. The use of the word consistent is very appropriate for this restaurant cafe, consistent good coffee, consistent excellent menu choices, consistent attentive service, further more consistently busy. The outside alfresco area has sun umbrellas, along with good seating options. Inside flows through from the alfresco area, offering comfortable large seating options, a generous size service area, with a large cabinet displaying, mouth watering cakes. The ambience is very relaxing, not loud, with good background music. For us, The Haus ticks all the boxes.

Millies Bakery Cafe Mt Barker S.A.

Millie's Bakery Cafe is a very popular outlet, always busy, particularly around lunch time. The tiled cream floor area, blond wooden chairs and matching tables give the place a clean tidy feel. Outside they have added on a large decked, shaded alfresco area, with sliding door access into the cafe. The range of bakery options are plentiful, from a large selection of wraps, rolls and tempting cakes, through to a very good coffee, which contribute to the buzz of the place. The service is good, when you consider how popular this Cafe is. I noted behind the counter staff numbered eight persons, full table service, including free Wifi, national and local newspapers, loyalty cards. The locals are onto this place, so if you are visiting MtBarker feel like a snack or coffee, this could well be the place for you.

Oxtail Faggot. Succulent oxtail (boned for your convenience) Pease pudding and Red wine sauce. Duck breast, with Cumberland sauce and parsnip mash. With a side of beautifully prepared greens. The salt on the table had a little seaweed in it, very thoughtful. An English tradition. The lunches we chose, excelled in the following critera. Ingredients, Taste, Presentation. From the Lounge, Bar, Restaurant menu's, we chose two dishes, a Coconut Crumbed Flathead, served with garden salad, fries and house made tartare sauce and a Salt "n" Pepper Squid, served with garden salad, fries and house made tartare sauce. Both dishes were very well prepared and presented, the fish on both plates could not be faulted, along with the fresh garden salad, made this a very relaxing enjoyable lunch. While dining we indulged with a pleasant Sauvignon, plus a local brewed Vale Ale. On finishing our delightful lunch we finished with two very well made full strength locally ground Altura coffee's, the coffee's alone will bring us back. We found the staff helpful and very professional, thus complimenting our experience. Frankly this is a gem of a place to visit, enjoy, relax and dine while shopping in the busy Rundle Mall. Their street style cafe at the entrance is a good coffee stop also.
